Born and raised in San Francisco and currently based in Los Angeles, Christina Galisatus is a pianist, composer, vocalist, and songwriter whose music is grounded in emotional honesty and purposeful restraint. Having cultivated a distinctive sound as both a performer and writer, her music is difficult to put into a box; her rich harmonic and melodic sensibilities are shaped by years of classical piano and orchestral French horn studies, alongside extensive experience in the world of jazz and improvised music.

Her debut album, Without Night — described by All About Jazz as “the beginning of something fresh”and likened to “Laurel Canyon singer-songwriter music as played by an improvising group”— marked the beginning of her exploration merging these influences with songwriting. She followed that thread further with her recently released second album, Hold Still – praised as radically gentle and emotionally urgent–which also marked her debut as a vocalist.

At Motivo, Christina will be presenting a new set of music arranged for her band with string quartet, promising a beautifully intimate night of music.
