We’re thrilled to welcome Holly Palmer to Motivo for the March edition of the Creative Music Series, celebrating the release of her new album Metamorphosis on Colorfield Records.
A Los Angeles–based vocologist and fearless musical explorer, singer Holly Palmer brings a deeply immersive performance that lives between jazz, art-pop, and experimental sound. This special evening marks a rare opportunity to experience Metamorphosis live—an album built on discovery, vulnerability, and the expressive power of the human voice beyond words.
About the Album — Metamorphosis
Both unflinchingly experimental and deeply listenable, Metamorphosis is a mid-career reinvention from Holly Palmer. Conceived with producer and multi-instrumentalist Pete Min and shaped through studio improvisation, the album unfolds as jazz-inflected art-pop—warm, playful, and uncategorizable.
Throughout the record, Palmer uses her voice instrumentally, moving beyond lyrics into texture, breath, and atmosphere. Smokelike vocal lines weave around luminous contributions from collaborators including Cuong Vu and Daniel Rotem, alongside a remarkable ensemble of musicians. The result is music rooted in discovery—inviting listeners into unfamiliar emotional terrain with openness and trust.

About Holly Palmer
Holly Palmer is a Los Angeles–based singer, vocologist, composer, and producer whose career spans decades of boundary-pushing work across pop, jazz, and experimental music. A Berklee College of Music alum, she first emerged in the 1990s with her solo debut and went on to collaborate with an extraordinary range of artists, including David Bowie, Dr. Dre, Gnarls Barkley, Seal, Michael Bublé, Billy Preston, and many others.
Known for her singular approach to the voice as an instrument, Palmer has continually evolved her sound, blending technical mastery with deep emotional presence. Metamorphosis represents a powerful new chapter—less about résumé and legacy, and more about curiosity, reinvention, and what becomes possible when familiar forms are left behind.
